Clay (Kitty Litter)
The vast majority of the absorbent market is made up of clay based products (kitty litter). It acts as and Absorbent, only attempting to contain a spill and does not actually absorb. It leaves moist product on the ground, leaches, requires longer time to clean up and weighs quite a bit, which will cost more for the disposal. Whenever SaveSorb is available, it is used to clean up the mess that clay leaves behind.
Pad Products (Polypropylene Pads)
The largest alternative to clay are poly pads. These pads simply do not get the job done. The pads saturate quite quickly. It also acts as an Absorbent, only attempting to contain a spill and does not actually absorb. Once saturated, and held up or while being tossed into a waste container, it will leak.
A very small part of the industry is the more exotic materials like coconut husks, crushed corn cob, cottonseed, etc.
If your company is in need of a true oil Absorbent, there is only one choice, SaveSorb.
